Leo Rangell delivered “Perspectives” as the opening Presidential Address at the 28th International Congress of Psychoanalysis of the International Psychoanalytic Association, in Paris, July 23, 1973. This is the second draft of the Address, annotated in his own hand; it reflects many of the ideas he was interested in at the time and returned to throughout his life.
